What are the benefits of Copper PCA Peptides for my skin?

This product is a broad-spectrum antioxidant serum. It helps to prevent signs of premature ageing by protecting the skin from environmental aggressors like UV rays and pollution. Neutralising free radicals and stimulating collagen and elastin production results in a radiantly youthful complexion.

Medik8 Copper PCA Peptides comes in two compartments with a dual-chamber pump, keeping the ingredients stable to maximise their potency for longer. The silky formula sinks in quickly, hydrating and firming to reduce the appearance of damage such as lines, wrinkles, and sunspots.

An infusion of anti-ageing peptides boosts the effects of the already powerful antioxidants. This Medik8 Peptides serum protects and renews your skin so it stays smooth and clear.

How do Copper PCA Peptides work?

Your skin has a natural defence system, but free radicals – unstable atoms that damage skin cells – can overwhelm it. Without enough antioxidants to ward off free radicals, they can cause skin cells to break down, resulting in premature ageing. That’s where Medik8 comes in.

Their Copper PCA Peptides blend expertly mimics your body’s natural defences, providing broad protection against free radicals. Medik8 only uses the chirally correct form of anti-inflammatory copper PCA. This means it only contains the molecules that can provide the desired results.

Smart peptides and packaging

An additional combination of anti-ageing peptides helps to strengthen your skin by increasing collagen and elastin. More antioxidants – dimethylmethoxy chromanol, superoxide dismutase, and oil-soluble Vitamin E – also pack an extra defensive punch against pollutants.

The dual-chamber packaging is the key to the formula’s stability. It keeps certain ingredients apart to prevent them from activating too early and losing potency. Pumping out blue copper PCA and white dimethylmethoxy chromanol separately and mixing them together can also be quite fun.

More information about this product

If you’re sensitive to Vitamin C, then Copper PCA Peptides could be the perfect alternative for you. It’s the ideal product to substitute into Medik8’s CSA skincare philosophy. This routine uses a Vitamin C product in the morning, Sunscreen during the day, and a Vitamin A product at night.

Medik8 Copper PCA Peptides can help with a variety of skin concerns, from dehydration and sun damage to wrinkles and pigmentation. It’s also suitable for a range of skin types. This includes sensitive, dry, oily, or combination skin.

The airless vacuum pump prevents oxidisation and prolongs the product’s shelf life. For the best results, only dispense and mix the separate parts immediately before application.

Copper PCA Peptides FAQs

Peptides are natural amino acids that stimulate collagen and elastin. Environmental damage and general ageing can deplete these connective tissues over time, causing dry, thin, and sagging skin. Scientifically known as GHK (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine), peptides easily bind with copper (Cu).

Copper peptides (GHK-Cu) consist of 3 amino acids bound with copper, which work as carriers to deliver valuable minerals to skin cells. These are used for important processes including collagen production, inflammation reduction, and wound healing, which all contribute to healthier skin.

Copper PCA is a synthetic agent derived from copper salt in pyrrolidone carboxylic acid. It has anti-microbial and catalysing properties that enhance the skin-repairing and protective actions of peptides. Overall, the benefits include firmer and smoother skin with a more even texture and tone.

Skincare can be complicated, as you can never be sure how your skin will react to a product until you try it. However, we know that copper peptides can break down and oxidise if they come into contact with direct acids, Vitamin C, AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), or retinoids. This reduces their efficiency.

Normally, combining acids and copper peptides won’t have any harmful effects, it just prevents them from working properly. In some cases, layering retinol and copper peptides can result in skin irritation and dryness. It’s best to avoid these issues by not applying any of these at the same time.

For example, you could use Vitamin C in the morning and apply copper peptides at night, or use them to replace your morning Vitamin C and then use retinol at night. Medik8 Copper PCA Peptides also uses niacinamide, which can cause increased skin sensitivity if it reacts with topical Vitamin C.

Our skin is already beginning to lose collagen when we’re in our 20s, so it’s a good idea to introduce copper peptides to your daily skincare routine in your late 20s or early 30s. In terms of the best time of day to apply Medik8 Copper PCA Peptides, you can do so whenever it’s most convenient for you.

That said, the needs of your skin change throughout the day. It requires protection during the daytime and cellular renewal during the night. For this reason, it’s best to apply protective copper peptides in the morning. You can then use a retinoid at night, like Night Ritual Vitamin A Cream or R-Retinoate.

Whichever products you use in your morning routine, you should be applying them from the lightest and thinnest to the heaviest and thickest formulations. Water-based serums like Medik8 Copper PCA Peptides will struggle to penetrate the skin otherwise, especially through oil-based products.

How to Apply

Medik8 advises patch testing for every new product you try – simply apply a small amount to a patch of skin and wait at least 24 hours to observe your skin’s reaction.

If your skin reacts well, you can introduce Copper PCA Peptides into your regular skincare routine in this way:

1) Cleanse and dry your skin before applying (morning and evening).

2) Dispense a single dose from each pump and gently mix on the back of your hand.

3) Apply to the face, neck, and décolletage in light upward strokes, avoiding the eye area.

4) Allow to absorb fully before following with moisturiser (use sun protection in the morning).

Before you first use the product, you may need to turn it upside and tap the bottom, before returning it to the upright position and pressing the pump until it dispenses the product.

If you intend to apply makeup afterwards, be sure to wait for it to sink in properly to avoid pilling.
