Time Release AHA Overnight Peel

Uncloak the mysteries of skincare with this ultimate bi-weekly treatment. Medik8 Sleep Glycolic fulfils the meaning of beauty sleep, transforming your skin through an overnight peel. No matter how busy your lifestyle is, it’s easy to fit in – simply apply, then slumber away while it gets to work.

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to brighter, smoother, and healthier skin? When you aren’t able to go to a professional for regular skin peel treatments, this product is the perfect at-home alternative. You don’t have to leave the comfort of your bed to decongest your skin with Medik8 Sleep Glycolic.

The Sleep Glycolic Overnight Peel helps to resurface your skin by promoting cellular turnover and strengthening the natural barrier, all while you sleep. With 10% encapsulated glycolic acid, its gradual release throughout the night will ensure optimal infiltration, while minimising irritation.

What are the benefits of Medik8 Sleep Glycolic for my skin?

This Sleep Glycolic AHA Peel uses a 10% concentration of glycolic acid with time-release encapsulation to penetrate the skin gently but effectively. The non-drying formula helps to slough off dead skin cells to refine dry and rough skin, without compromising your natural skin barrier.

The At-Home AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) treatment allows you to benefit from radiant skin with very little effort. All you have to do is apply it before bed. Sleep Glycolic can transform dull skin during your downtime, delivering powerful results while you get the best beauty sleep you’ve ever had.

Studies show that Sleep Glycolic works

In a third-party user trial at Pangaea Laboratories with 34 participants, 97% reported a smoother skin surface and 94% reported visibly illuminated skin after using Medik8 Sleep Glycolic for 4 weeks. If you try this At-Home Overnight Peel, you could experience similar results for yourself.

How does Sleep Glycolic work?

Since glycolic acid has the smallest particles out of all the AHAs used in skincare, it can penetrate the deeper layers of your skin more easily. With a pH value of 3.5, the active acid works as an exfoliant, breaking down bonds to release dead skin cells and allow newer skin cells to come to the surface.

To prevent the glycolic acid from releasing too quickly and irritating the skin, it’s encapsulated in a cyclodextrin ‘shell’, which is slowly broken down by skin enzymes overnight.

Additionally, Korean clover extract helps to regulate your skin’s biological processes. As glycolic acid enhances skin cell turnover, this clover extract from South Korea boosts hydration, repair, and detoxification. Moisturising glycerin is also present to make skin soft and supple.

Medik8 Sleep Glycolic FAQs

Yes! Unless your skin is extremely sensitive and you experience strong reactions to most AHAs, this product shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin. Most skin types tolerate glycolic acid very well, but you may want to consult your dermatologist if you have concerns – or try a more gentle alternative like lactic acid.

Similarly, you should not use this product if you are under 20 years old, unless it's been prescribed to you by your doctor or dermatologist. Nor should you apply it to skin that's already inflamed or broken – for example, if you have a flare-up of eczema, acne, or rosacea. Otherwise, sensitive skin shouldn’t have any issues.

Only use the Medik8 Sleep Glycolic AHA At-Home Overnight Peel as directed. Don't apply it more than 3 times a week, and never use it on consecutive nights. We understand that you’re keen on the great results, but overuse could damage your skin; you don’t want irritation, burning, or excess peeling.

Generally, you should not apply Medik8 Sleep Glycolic at the same time as any other direct acids. Too much exfoliation power at once could damage your skin barrier, making it vulnerable to bacteria. Even generally tolerant skin could have a bad reaction to excessive acids.

This means that you shouldn’t layer Sleep Glycolic serum with Vitamin A, Vitamin C, or BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) like salicylic acid. It’s fine to use them during different times of day, or on different days – for example, using a Vitamin C Cream in the morning, and using Crystal Retinal on other nights.

When you’re cleansing in the evening before applying Medik8 Sleep Glycolic, it’s fine to use an acid-based cleanser like Press & Glow Toner. This is because cleansers don’t linger on the skin and therefore won’t penetrate as deeply as the Overnight Peel, avoiding an over-concentration of acids.

As we’ve mentioned, high-strength glycolic acid is such an effective exfoliant that everyday use would cause increased skin sensitivity and visible signs of irritation. This will have the opposite effect than you intended – don’t think that using the Overnight Peel more often means even better results.

For the best results, appropriate usage is only 1 or 2 times a week, and no more than 3 times a week at the maximum. As above, you should avoid using other acid-based skincare treatments at the same time. Always follow it up with an intense moisturiser as well, like Medik8 Advanced Night Restore Cream.

As long as you don’t get carried away and overdo it, it’s safe to use the Medik8 Sleep Glycolic treatment a few times a week. Be sure to always wear a product with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 30 during the day, especially when using Sleep Glycolic in summer.

How to Apply

+

Before using this product in full, Medik8 recommends patch testing. Apply a tiny amount to a patch of skin and observe your skin’s reaction over 24 hours.

If the patch test is successful, you can begin to use the Sleep Glycolic Overnight Peel 2-3 times a week as part of your evening skincare routine:

1) Cleanse and dry your skin in the evening.

2) Apply a pea-sized amount of product to your face.

3) Smooth it in gently across your face and neck.

4) Follow with any other night serums and moisturisers.

5) Leave on overnight without washing your face until the morning.

You should always wear sunscreen during the day, but it’s especially important to do so the day after using the Medik8 Sleep Glycolic Peel to prevent skin damage.

Do not use within 5-7 days of a chemical skin peel treatment.
